We express our concern at the outbreak of fighting that took place in Sudan. Turkey reiterates its belief that there is no solution other than peaceful means for the Darfur issue.

Turkey attaches great importance to the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of the Republic of the Sudan and calls for an immediate cessation of fighting and a resumption of the political process soon within the framework of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and Darfur Agreement.

Turkey also urges all parties to exert utmost effort to protect the civilian population, the primary victims of this latest violence.
